The Matthews Property Group has built an enviable reputation for quality and flair during its 28-year history. The group’s foundations were laid on the Gold Coast in 1978 by Larry Matthews, a hands-on developer who honed his building skills during 14 years in the construction industry. Larry’s initial focus was home-building but by 1980 his Matthews Property Group had broadened its horizons and had its first low-rise apartment project under way.
The group set its sights higher in 1996 when it embarked on its first apartment tower, the up market Ocean Park overlooking the sea at Broadbeach. Matthews Property entered the new millennium by unveiling the 17-level Sonata, in the heart of the Broadbeach central business district. With success of Sonata, the group consolidated its position as one of Queensland’s most progressive companies when it acquired a premier Mermaid Beach holding and also unveiled plans for the magnificent Freshwaterpoint development in Broadbeach.
While focusing on the prestige property market Larry hasn’t forgotten his roots. Anticipating demand well in advance of a market boom, the Matthews Group has bought other broad acre sites to shape into housing estates. They include the 900-lot Parklakes and 580-lot Sandstone Lakes, currently under development on the Sunshine Coast. Moving further afield the group has purchased 100 sites of waterfront section of the Mornington Peninsula prized beachside development Martha Cove.
The future is looking bright.
